Orchard support groups are organized and facilitated by Orchard members, for Orchard members!

Dorri is an incredibly inviting, warm woman. She greets everyone with a smile and will help you feel welcome! She has been an Orchard Member since 2016 and has volunteered since early 2017. She is a State Certified Peer Support and Wellness Specialist and has a passion for connecting with others.
Bipolar Support Group
Tuesdays 2:00 – 3:00 PM
Facilitated by Lee & Dorri
This group is open to members living with Bipolar seeking the knowledgeable and empathetic community of peers with the similar lived experience. Welcoming and understanding, group members help one another identify and address their behavior and concerns to improve their wellbeing and the support they give to one another.
Lee brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to this group. His quiet strength and compassion create an environment of openness where trust and connection are fostered. His insight will help you explore life’s challenges and victories with new perspective.
Women’s Support Group
Fridays 2:00 – 3:30 PM
The Women’s Support Group provides a comfortable environment for women to share stories and experiences with each other in an open and authentic way. This group is a chance to build new connections, give and recieve recovery-focused support, and discuss topics in a confidential setting.
Our Women’s Support Group is facilitated by a collaborative team of Orchard women who have taken our Facilitator training course and have a passion for walking along side other women.
Scott is an honest and caring person who looks forward to helping our community each day. He has facilitated groups for Lutheran Family Services for both men and women facing issues of addiction. He is passionate about helping others problem solve, and sharing his lived experience.
Weekend Mental Wellness Support Group
Saturdays 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Open to all Orchard members, this Mental Wellness Support Group is scheduled with those members whose weekday demands just don’t leave time to attend any of our weekly groups in mind! Come discuss the challenges of the week and celebrate the victories together in an atmosphere of acceptance and support. This group will address a wide variety of challenges specific to living with mental health challenges.
Jen is compassionate, kind, and genuine. She has a strength for seeing the best in those around her regardless of their history or past mistakes. She is currently continuing her education in the mental health field at UNL and has been involved with The Orchard since 2016. She has facilitated mental health support groups in the past and has a passion for walking side-by-side with group members as they explore recovery together.
Dennis is a kind and caring man. He has helped nurture the fellowship of members, volunteers, and staff since The Orchard opened in 2015. Spreading love and good vibes, Dennis shares his lived experience and message of hope in recovery.
Tuesdays 4:30 – 5:00 PM

This weekly support group connects adults living with mental illness in a structured, confidential, and relaxed setting. Together, members empower one another by promoting self-disclosure and support in recovery.
Saturdays 2:00 – 3:00 PM

Seeking Safety (Najavits, 2002) is an evidence-based model specifically developed to help survivors with co-occurring trauma and addiction. This approach helps participants explore the impact that trauma has had in their daily lives in a way that does not ask them to delve into emotionally distressing trauma narratives. Thus, “safety” is a deep concept with varied layers of meaning–safety of the participant as they do the work; supporting participants as they envision what safety would look and feel like in their lives; and introducing new ways of coping.
Aaron is a passionate, outspoken Peer Specialist who has contributed much of his time over the last couple of years to his own recovery as well as the Orchard community. He encourages open discussion and prides himself in taking time to get to know those he works with.
Thursdays 2:00 – 3:00 PM

Anxiety in it’s myriad of forms affects so many people in our society today. This support group will address they ways in which anxiety impacts your life in an upbeat, no-pressure environment. Connect with others who struggle with anxiety, brainstorm new ways to approach your day, and work together to find internal peace.
